The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) is presenting a series of workshops called “Shaping Education: 3D Printing in the Classroom” for educators who want to put the technology to work in their schools. One-day workshops for educators who are new to 3D Printing will be offered at RCBI’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers on the following dates:

  • South Charleston, Feb. 17
  • Huntington, Feb. 24
  • Bridgeport, March 2.

The workshops run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

“Using 3D Printing in the classroom really gets students excited about learning,” said Charlotte Weber, Director & CEO of RCBI. “We’re pleased to bring educators together to share ideas about how to use this innovative technology.”

Supported with a grant from NASA’s IV & V (Independent Verification and Validation) Facility, the workshops are presented in partnership with Marshall University’s June Harless Center.

The workshops will include an overview of 3D Printing technology, an introduction to design software, information about the maintenance of 3D printers, and guidance on incorporating 3D Printing into the curriculum.

A workshop for educators with more experience in 3D Printing is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 9 at RCBI South Charleston.

Educators will receive a stipend for attending the workshops, and lunch will be provided. Seats are limited, so educators are asked to apply at www.rcbi.org/online/3deducators. For more information, contact Becky Calwell at bcalwell@rcbi.org or 800.469.7224.
