WHAT: SURE Program research project presentation

brie2West Liberty University (WLU) was home to the Topper-SURE program for 15 undergraduate student researchers this summer. Students conducted research with faculty mentors from the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in the following project areas: bacterial pathogenesis/ microbiology, crayfish biodiversity, skull morphometrics and environmental chemistry.

 

The program began on June 2 and will conclude July 31 with a SURE Symposium, during which students will present their individual research projects. Faculty mentors will discuss SURE student accomplishments as students present their findings during a poster presentation. Light snacks and refreshments will follow student presentations.

 

Funding for the Topper-SURE program was provided by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission’s Division of Science and Research through the Research Challenge Fund, under the direction of Dr. Jan R. Taylor.
