In an effort to showcase the importance of rural health research and health care, the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is hosting its first Rural Health Research Day today, Friday, Oct. 31.

 

The morning-long event begins at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome from Jennifer T. Plymale, M.A., director of the Robert C. Byrd Center for Rural Health at Marshall, and is followed by presentations and a keynote address by Dr. Robert Walker, vice chancellor for health sciences at the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and former professor and chairman of the department of family and community health.

 

Rural Health Research Day is a collaborative effort between the Center for Rural Health and the Appalachian Clinical and Translational Research Institute at Marshall.
