Neuron, our quarterly journal of science and research, highlights ongoing scientific work happening at higher education institutions throughout the Mountain State, particularly the Appalachian Freshwater Initiative and Gravitational Waves funded through the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR).
Dr. David H. Huber of West Virginia State University and his students study the microbial diversity in the Kanawha River as part of the Appalachian Freshwater Initiative. They hope to better understand the influence of human impact on the river’s health and how microbes aid in its resilience.
Read more about Huber’s research in our Fall 2018 issue.
